Interview with Mia Shepherd

How are you involved in the community?

Why did you decide to get involved in the Blackshires Initiative?

I wanted to be a part of something that was actually putting action to their words. The individuals that make up the Anchor Circle of the Blackshires see the need within the community and are taking the necessary steps to fulfill those needs. Those are the type of people I want to work hand in hand with in order to give my community what it needs.

What are your areas of focus for the Blackshires?

I have a few areas that are my focus for the Blackshires. The two that I have my immediate focus would be the educational focus to assist in educating our youth and the expungement program to assist those with cannabis convictions have their records either expunged or sealed.

Why are you an expert in the field?

I wouldn’t say that I am an “expert” in either field. I’m letting my passion guide me and that’s where they have led me thus far. Being a mother has definitely played its part in what drives my educational advocacy.

What do you do for the Blackshires?

What’s your favorite thing about the Berkshires?

The landscape/scenery. Being able to look outside my window at home or while I’m taking a drive and just see the beauty this world gives us would be my absolute favorite thing about the Berkshires. I don’t have to drive or fly to see the wonders of God’s work.

What’s your favorite place to eat?

I honestly don’t have a favorite place here yet.I enjoy a few different restaurants for different reasons, but I don’t have a favorite place to eat yet. My favorite place simply because of its atmosphere, energy, and amazing drinks would be Mooncloud in GB!

What are you excited about right now?

Working with the Blackshires to get things rolling and watching it all come to fruition.
